Collyhurst means “Wooded Hill”. The reason why is because it is made almost entirely of sandstone, which has the appearance of wood. This area is also called the Red Bank as a result of the rich red color of the rocky hills.

These bands were hosted in the mid-1970s in this location at the The Electric Circus, which used to be a bingo hall. It was located on Rochdale Road.
