Gatley is home to a local music festival. It is run by a non-profit group to raise money for local charities. At this festival there is a variety of different types of music such as jazz, brass, choral, indie, and rock are featured. This event takes place in March of each year.

This suburb is also known for its local playing fields. William Scholes Playing Fields, which is near the border to Manchester at the Gatley Hill House entrance. Cricket and football matches are the sporting events most often scheduled here.
