The Southern bank of the Manchester Ship Canal borders Partington. It is only a few minutes away from the Manchester City Centre, and only about 15 to 20 minutes away from the Manchester Airport. We have minibuses and taxis to take you to and from the airport at anytime.
One of the sites of significance in Partington is the former gas storage facility which used to provide most of the employment in this area. Shell Petrochemicals was located in Carrington, the nearest village to the east.
Partington used to be a major industry site for other operations as well. One of those was a paper works, and currently a paint works still exists in the town.
Located in this town are large churches representing various religions. One of the biggest is the Roman Catholic Church, and others include an Anglican church, and a Pentecostal Chapel. Additionally, Partington is also home to a local Methodist church.
One of the most significant buildings other than the historical churches is what used to be called Partington County Primary School. The building for this particular educational centre was built in 1958. There are other public schools as well as a Catholic private school located in this town.
Sale-This town is located about 10 km (6 mi) southwest of the Manchester City Centre. It is located only about 15 minutes from the Manchester Airport.
The famous Bridgewater Canal runs right through Sale, and the River Mersey runs along the northern border of this location. These were some of the earliest transport routes, until the establishment of local railway stations.
Sale was formerly an agricultural centre. The main industries used to be farming and weaving. Now the major economic industries of this area include real estate, retail, and business services. It has become quite the commuter town as well.
Sale’s best attractions include Sale Water Park and Waterside Arts Centre. Sale Water Park is an artificial lake designed for local water sports as well as fishing and bird watching. On site are the Broad Ees Dole wildlife refuge and the Local Nature Reserve, a home for migratory birds.
Another major point of interest in this town is the cenograph located just outside the town hall. It was built by A. Sherwood Edwards from Ashton-upon-Mercy. Additionally, some may find it interesting to note the oldest building still standing in Sale-Eyebrow College.
Partington is full of culture as well as history. One of the most recently-established of art venues in this town is the Waterside Art Centre which opened its doors in 2004. The Robert Bolt Theatre, the Lauriston Gallery, Corridor Gallery are also located here in this section of Trafford.
